About Our PracticeKatie Sachs has been a practicing massage therapist for the last 9 years and is a recent graduate of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Lenoir-Rhyne University. As a dually licensed therapist (LMBT and LCMHCA), Katie has an embodied understanding of the body-mind connection, and how often times emotional distress can manifest in our bodies as physical pain.
Katie completed a trauma-informed somatic massage training under Cat Matlock, which deepened her understanding and integration of her mental health background into a specialized massage experience, intended to help calm the nervous system, reset the vagus nerve, and support clients in feeling more at home in their bodies. |
OUR APPROACH TO BODYWORK and
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SESSION:
We believe in co-created treatments that are holistic, therapeutic, creative, and client-centered. We are trauma-informed, using care and understanding that sometimes the body may be holding things from our past that are painful. Goals for each session are discussed beforehand, and massages are customized to meet the unique needs of each client. Our signature massage is a blend of techniques such as: deep tissue, myofascial release, energy healing, sports massage and Swedish. Music is also incorporated as an integrated part of the healing process. We offer a highly specialized variety of custom, hand-made, and unconventional-yet-relaxing, musical playlist options for your session. After each treatment, we will discuss a follow-up plan that meets your needs, and do our best to support you in getting any additional services that might benefit your healing process.
Though we will see occasional clients, our focus is on building therapeutic relationships with clients interested in working together on a long-term basis. Trauma-informed care requires there to be a trusting therapeutic relationship in place. Establishing this kind of safety takes time and consistency. Best results will also often take multiple sessions to be noticed.
